Growing up surrounded by the carvers, inlay artists and weavers of India, I saw extraordinary craft being made by hand every day — and I saw how little of it was reaching the people who would truly treasure it.
Folklorei by ArtisanMade Studio was born to change that: to work directly with artisan families, honour their skill with fair and steady work, and bring their pieces to homes across India and the world — each one carrying the story of the hands that made it.
We are a small studio with a large love for heritage. Every piece we send out is one we would be proud to keep ourselves.
Folklorei is drawn from folklore — the living stories, symbols and craft traditions handed down across generations, from India to the workshops of Thailand and China.

Folklorei began with Kajal Jaiswal's belief that a home should tell your story. Drawn to India's living craft traditions — hand-carving, marble inlay, and Thikri mirror work — she set out to bring these heritage arts into contemporary homes around the world. Every piece is personally curated and bespoke-made alongside the artisans she works with, so what arrives at your door isn't just furniture — it's a keeper of memories.
Kajal brings more than twenty years in brand strategy, marketing, and business development to Folklorei, with leadership roles at names like Mitsubishi Motors and JCB and a career spanning India, China, and the United States. An MBA in Marketing and Finance, she pairs a global business mind with a lifelong love of the makers and traditions she grew up around. She founded ArtisanMade Studio to bring those worlds together — connecting India's finest artisans with homes that treasure the handmade — and today leads Folklorei's design and curation, personally choosing every piece and every partnership.

Before a motif reaches a cabinet door or a headboard, it has already lived several lives — on a mud wall in Maharashtra, a palm leaf in Odisha, a threshold in Tamil Nadu drawn again every dawn. These are the traditions we study, commission from, and try very hard not to flatten. Each is a complete visual language with its own grammar, its own palette, and its own rules about what may be drawn and by whom.
