A love letter to
Indian craft

Folklorei began with a simple belief — that the handmade traditions of India deserve a place in the way we live today, not just in a museum.

Creating Forever Homes

“The best rooms have something to say about the people who live in them.”

I’ve always believed that a home should feel like you. Not just beautiful. Not just well-designed. But warm, personal, and filled with things that have a story to tell.

That belief is what led to the beginning of ArtisanMade Studio in 2020. What started with a deep love for design and a desire to create the perfect vibe for a home has slowly grown into something much more meaningful. Along the way, we discovered that the most beautiful spaces are often created by bringing together different cultures, traditions, materials, and ideas.

At ArtisanMade Studio, we bring together contemporary and traditional home décor to help you create a space that reflects your personality and your way of living. From custom décor and furniture to carefully chosen linens and handcrafted pieces, every product is selected to add character to your home. We don’t believe in simply filling a room. We believe in giving it a feeling.

But there is another part of our journey that means just as much to us. We work with artisans and makers whose skills have been passed down through generations. By bringing their work into homes around the world, we hope to keep these traditional crafts alive while giving artisans an opportunity to continue doing what they do best.

Our products come from different parts of the world, with a strong connection to India, Thailand, and China. Each place brings its own materials, techniques, stories, and design traditions. And that is what makes our approach to design truly global.

We take inspiration from different corners of the world and bring those influences together with modern design to create something that feels unique, effortless, and right at home.

Because your home doesn’t need to follow one style. It just needs to tell your story.

The story in the name

Folklorei is drawn from folklore — the living stories, symbols and craft traditions handed down across generations, from India to the workshops of Thailand and China.

It is why a Folklorei piece carries its own name and its own short story. Before it ever reaches your home, an object already belongs to a lineage — and once it's yours, you become part of the tale it goes on to tell.

The crafts we carry

Traditions kept alive by hand

We work with heritage techniques that have shaped Indian homes for centuries — now reimagined for modern living.

Hand-carving

Solid wood shaped by master carvers — motifs, jaali screens and detail that only patient hands can achieve.

Marble inlay

Semi-precious stone set into marble in the Pietra Dura tradition — the same art that adorns India's palaces.

Thikri mirror work

Hand-cut mirror fragments arranged into shimmering patterns — a craft of light, precision and endless patience.

Textiles & block-print

Hand-woven and hand-blocked fabrics carrying age-old Indian motifs, dyed and printed the traditional way.

From hand to home

How a Folklorei piece is made

1

A story & a sketch

Every piece starts with a motif from Indian folklore, drawn and adapted for how we actually live today.

2

Made by artisan hands

The right craft family takes over — carving, inlaying, mirror-setting or weaving each piece to order, never mass-produced.

3

Named & finished

The piece is finished with natural oils, checked by hand, and given its Sanskrit or Hindi name and story.

4

Carried to your home

Carefully packed and shipped across India and worldwide — ready to begin its next chapter with you.

What we promise

The Folklorei promise

Fair to artisans

Truly handmade

No factory lines. Small variations aren't flaws — they're the fingerprint of a human maker.

Honest materials and timeless design, built to be loved for years and passed on for generations.

Lokakatha · a folk tale

Do you carry a story we haven’t heard?

Every Folklorei piece is named for a story. But the stories we know are only the ones we grew up with — and there are thousands more, held in families, in villages, in languages we have never worked in.

If you carry one — a tale your grandmother told, a legend attached to a place, the story behind an object that has been in your home for longer than you have — we would like to read it.

We are collecting them slowly. There is no deadline and no competition. Some may one day find their way into how we name a piece, and we would come back to you first if that happened. Others we will simply keep.

A story written down is a story that survives.
