Growing up in a family of artisans, she watched simple palm leaves transform into intricate works of art through patience, precision, and years of dedicated practice. Today, with over 20 years of experience, she continues the same artistic tradition that has been preserved in Raghurajpur for generations.
Palm Leaf Engraving is an art that leaves no room for haste.
Unlike painting, every line is engraved directly onto the leaf using a fine metal stylus. There are no brushes to hide mistakes and no erasers to begin again. Each stroke demands complete focus, steady hands, and years of disciplined practice. Once the engraving is complete, natural pigments are gently applied, revealing intricate details that tell stories inspired by Indian mythology, nature, and Odisha’s rich cultural heritage.
